Hi, welcome! I’m so happy you’re here! In the next video I’m going to talk about a few ground rules with you and just the general layout of the course so that you can take full advantage of everything the course has to offer. But first, I just want to welcome you and tell you a little bit more about the background of this course and why I created it.

I created the course with soul-connected creatives in mind, so hopefully you put yourself in that category. The photographers, the writers, the coaches, the designers, the makers and the bakers. Whatever you are, I hope that you consider yourself creative in some way. And I hope that you’re ready to create your own ideal, purposefully productive routine, so that you can truly unleash your creative and personal potential.

Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing.
- Thomas A. Edison

Why productivity with PURPOSE? Why is purpose important?

My story

First, I just want to give you a little bit of the background of my story and what let me to create this course.

I’ve always been a perfectionist. Even as a kid, I was that typical overachieving, straight-A student in school. Perfectionism was my safety, my coping mechanism, my way of dealing with fear, uncertainty, and and insecurity.

And with perfectionism comes procrastination. Why bother taking on that project or trying something out when you know you can’t do it perfectly? Right?

Even in my work - I worked for a local government organization - I still thought that my perfectionism was helping me be successful. Procrastination never happened in my day job, but in my personal life I couldn’t get motivated or get things done.

But then, a couple of things happened. I realized that my perfectionism wasn’t helping me, it was hindering me. I vowed to overcome my perfectionism and procrastination and so I started on my journey to become a recovering perfectionist. A few years later I started The Gratefulist. The Gratefulist was my side hustle for a year and so for a year I had to combine running my business with my regular day job. I knew I needed to find a way to be as productive as possible and not get stuck in the procrastination trap again.

So, over the past year I’ve researched, tried, and experimented. I realized I was looking at outside things - programs, hacks, tools - to help solve my productivity problem. I realized I got sucked into busyness way too often. I realized the changes I needed to make were not about time management or to-do lists or scheduling. This journey has been about finding the purpose, the why behind my work. I left all of that outside noise behind and created a purposeful routine from the inside out. A routine that I’ve been able to stick with now that I’ve gone through the transition of being a full-time creative entrepreneur.

All of this resulted in a specific process for creating a daily productive routine. I’ve used both my own experience and that of other creatives in developing this Productivity with Purpose process.

I’m not saying that all of this was easy to do. I know that in a few bullet point it sounds like: “Oh, it just happened”. It did not. But I share this story with you so that you know it’s possible to create a daily routine that will help you be purposefully productive. And I’m hoping that that’s why you’re here, that that’s your call. You want to lead a life of creativity and achieving your goals without being held back by procrastination.

The way that I was able to do this was not only in developing this Productivity with Purpose process, but also I was able to test it on myself. I created something that I’m confident to promote, because I’ve lived it, I’ve road tested it. And I want the same for you.

Why I created this course

Hopefully it’s obvious at this point that I’m really, really, really passionate about:

  • helping you leaving behind busyness and procrastination and start producing and creating with purpose through a tailored-to-your-needs daily routine for purposeful productivity

  • seeing other soul-connected creatives unleash their creative and personal potential. I think that’s so powerful. To me, there’s nothing better than seeing people who are deeply connected to their soul and their values and who are not held back by their fears and still put out their creations to the world. I want to see you do that

  • empowering creatives with the freedom to bring their ideas to life

  • providing you with a relatable, empowering, and affordable option to do so

Things to keep in mind

Just a couple of things to keep in mind, right out of the gate.

This course won’t work unless you do. And I’ve specifically created worksheets for all of the lessons in order for you to get the end result that you’re looking for. That’s going to require some critical thinking, reflecting, and soul searching on your part. You can’t game it or perfect it so it’s fast and easy. You have to feel your way through most of it. For you to do the work, make the commitment to yourself now to put in that time, put in that effort.

This course was developed for soul-connected, purpose-driven creatives. We have that in common. But we’re also different. We all have different values, priorities, needs, talents and so in working through the worksheets and creating your daily productive routine you’ll find that your answers and output might be different from others in the course. That’s okay. This isn’t a course where everyone ends up with the same end result. We’re working toward a daily routine that’s right for YOU and your purpose. The Productivity with Purpose process is an intuitive process that takes different shapes for different people.

Another thing to keep in mind is that I’m not an expert. This is just MY way, that I’ve developed over the course of researching and experimenting for myself and talking and connecting with fellow creatives. But, if you disagree with something or do something in a different way, that’s fine. There’s no right way to build a purposefully productive routine. This is just my way, my process that I’m able to teach you and that is replicable. My rules and formulas are here to guide you, not limit you. They’re guidelines that I’ve put in place so that there’s a structure to follow. Feel free to bend the rules as you see fit.

Remember, this is going to be hard. I’m not going to present you “the four easy steps to never ever ever procrastinate again”. I wouldn’t trust someone who said they had an easy fix. This might be hard and difficult. To key to overcoming difficulty is not waiting for motivation to arrive or for you to stop being afraid. The only way is to take action, to experiment, to learn, and to grow. And when things become hard, find community in the Facebook group.
