Five years ago, I started my journey to overcome perfectionism. I've been calling myself a recovering perfectionist ever since. But the journey hasn't always been easy. At times it was a lonely experience, as there were no resources out there to help me along the way.
A couple of weeks ago, I got the chance to be on my friend Jennifer's Simply + Fiercely blog sharing the 10 truths I've learned about perfectionism over the past five years.
I share five hard, difficult-to-hear truths and five encouraging truths, so that you don’t have to go through the same struggles I did when overcoming your perfectionism.
Here's a sneak peek of the five encouraging truths:
- Truth #1: Perfectionism is not something you’re born with
- Truth #2: You can change your thoughts and behavior
- Truth #3: Good is good enough
- Truth #4: Letting go of perfectionism doesn’t mean letting go of your strengths
- Truth #5: Letting go of perfectionism is a great way to practice minimalism
